Access Library resources from off campus
To access online Library resources:
- Log in to StudyNet.
- Select Online Library from the top menu.
- Use Library Search to find the resource you need.
You do not need to use the VPN to access e-books and e-journals.
Do I need an Athens account?
No. You do not need your own Athens account or an Athens username and password.
Athens is an authentication service used to provide access to online learning resources, including e-books, e-journals and electronic databases.
StudyNet manages the authentication process automatically for University of Hertfordshire students. Log in to StudyNet first, then use Online Library and Library Search to access resources.
What should I do if I am asked to sign in with OpenAthens?
You may sometimes be asked for Athens authentication when accessing electronic resources through Library Search or Subject Toolkits in StudyNet.
If this happens:
- Select University of Hertfordshire from the drop-down list.
- Do not enter a username or password in the OpenAthens sign-in box.
This will give you access to University-subscribed databases, journal articles and e-books.
