What is an Athens account?
Athens is a national authentication service providing access to many of the online learning resources, such as e-books, e-journals and electronic databases, available to you as a UH-registered student.
StudyNet manages the authentication process automatically at UH, so you do not need your own Athens account and you do not have to register for an Athens username and password.
To access Athens-authenticated resources you should always login to StudyNet first, then:

Using Athens to access UH library resources
There may be occasions where you are asked for Athens authentication when trying to access electronic resources via Library Search or the subject toolkits from within StudyNet. To enable your access to UH subscribed databases, journal articles and ebooks, you just need to select "University of Hertfordshire" from the drop down box. You do not need to enter a username and password in the OpenAthens sign in box.
