The Student Attendance Procedure has been developed as part of HIC’s commitment to provide a supportive learning environment which enables all students who have chosen to study with the College to achieve their full potential. If you drop below the 85% attendance figure you may be subject to the following consequences:
- You will be subject to the HIC Attendance Disciplinary Procedure:
- You will be placed on the Students in Jeopardy (SIJ) programme:
- You will be issued with a report card
- Your parents and agents will be informed of your poor attendance
- You may jeopardise your visa conditions and study in the UK
- You may jeopardise your progression to UH
- You may add extra cost to your studies for repeating a semester or modules
- You may add extra cost to your studies for another visa application due to progression change
- Termination of Study. The College may withdraw sponsorship of your visa!
Rules to follow to avoid poor attendance:
- Attend all classes on time – if you are more than 10 minutes late to class you will be marked absent
- Live locally in Hatfield to avoid public transport delays
- Manage your time, attend all classes, know your assignment deadlines and complete your assignments on time
- Keep your contact details up to date – we let you know about cancelled/rescheduled/postponed classes by SMS and Portal email

- If you genuinely cannot attend a class due to sickness, you must inform HIC and where possible visit a doctor to provide us with any evidence
- Check your Portal emails daily
- You cannot leave the country during the semester without HIC authorisation
- Make sure your alarm is working and has been set for the next day
