Can I study a language just for fun?
Yes! From 2026-27 we are planning to run some courses on Wednesday afternoons for extra-curricular study. Check back here in September for updates and for details on how to register.
Please register your interest using this form: https://forms.cloud.microsoft/e/xkhaxpn9zE
Can I study a language for extra credits?
If you are a full time student, it is possible to study up to 30 additional credits per year at UH on top of your planned curriculum. You must be free to attend the scheduled classes and take the assessment.
Please note that all classes will be scheduled on De Havilland campus, and there are no streamed or recorded sessions.
There is no additional cost to full-time students to study these modules, and the modules also show on your transcript.
Is studying an additional module right for me?
There are some things for students to consider before asking to be enrolled.
- Are you a complete beginner or do you have some prior knowledge in the language you are interested in studying? If so, you will need to discuss with our tutors which level of study is most appropriate.
- Are you free to attend at the time the class is scheduled? Classes are scheduled around our programme-based students and will only run at those times. Contact us to find out details of the relevant class.
- Do you have good time management and organisational skills? Studying an additional module involves additional workload! You will be expected to attend classes, complete directed learning and take all assessment components. We want you to be successful in your studies, so please consider this carefully before requesting to be enrolled.
- Have you discussed taking an additional module with your Programme Leader? Once you have considered all of the above, you will need to send us their permission in writing, so contact them asap if you would like to proceed.
I’m interested – what do I do now?
🔒Please note that Sem B modules are a continuation from Sem A
