Menopause Awareness Day

How you can get involved with Menopause Awareness Day on 18 October

To celebrate Menopause Awareness Day, we invite staff and students to join a free hybrid event - you can either drop in in-person or online. We have guest speakers on:

  • how to get the best out of 10 mins with your GP
  • HRT discussions,
  • Active Staff why strength training is essential
  • alternative health and nutrition talks with smoothie and taster bars. 
  • Online meetings in the afternoon on self-care body and mind and how to reach your goals.

10:30-10:55 Rachael Osijo is a local GP who will talk about her menopause journey as a GP & advice you how to get the best from your GP in your 10-minute appointment.

11:00-11:25 Kate Morgan is a Practice Nurse with a special interest in Menopause Health. I have worked in Menopause Health since 2010 and every day I talk with women who are going through the peri/menopause and help them navigate their way through this stage of their lives through support, advice and hormone replacement therapy if it is needed.

11:30-11:55 Yvette Lavender is a fully qualified Medical Herbalist who has a passion for, and a deep knowledge of plant medicine and gut health. I am trained in principles of medical examination, clinical skills, pharmacology, plant knowledge, nutrition, diet and lifestyle and counselling skills.

12:00-12:15 Kaele Scott – Neurodivergent Sport Scientist & Strength Conditioning Coach. Currently working with Watford FC, Performance Herts and specialises in working with female team sports and individual athletes from puberty through to postmenopausal.  Why building strength is so important for women in general.

13:05-13:30 Helen Payne is a professor who specialises in the integration of the body with the mind.  Teaching breathwork along with gentle movement exercises to help manage menopausal symptoms, along with coping strategies and will show us how to boost our serotonin.

13:40-14:50 Rowena Senior is a Reader in Higher Education in the School of Education with a long-standing interest in well-being. Rowena is chartered psychologist and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is also a Self-belief coach and is passionate about helping people draw on their strengths to achieve their goals.
