Electronic devices in exams
To protect the fairness of exams, you must not have any electronic devices on your person during an exam.
This includes:
- Mobile phones
- All watches, including smartwatches and traditional watches
- Fitness trackers
- Other wearable technology
Before your exam, you must:
- Switch off all devices completely
- Disable any alarms
- Place devices in the plastic box provided on your desk
You must not keep devices in your pocket, clothing, bag or anywhere else in the exam room.
What happens if you have a device during an exam?
If you are found with an electronic device on your person during an exam, it will be treated as academic misconduct.
Academic misconduct is a serious disciplinary offence and may result in significant consequences.
The University may use mobile phone detectors during exams. Random checks may take place before, during or after an exam, including during supervised toilet breaks.
