What is a Flywire payment plan?
If you have unpaid tuition fees, you may be invited by the University and Flywire to set up a payment plan.
A payment plan lets you pay your fees in instalments instead of paying the full amount at once.
You will manage your plan using Flywire’s secure online portal. You can:
- View your balance
- Set up a payment plan
- Make one-off payments
- Check your payment schedule
- Update your payment method
- View your payment history
Before you start
To access your Flywire account, you must use:
- The email address that received the invitation
- The mobile phone number you gave the University
If it is your first time logging in:
- Select Create New Account
- Set a password and activate your account
Set up a payment plan
After you log in, you will see your available payment options.
You may be able to:
- Pay in full, or
- Set up a payment plan
To set up a plan:
- Select a payment plan
- Choose a payment method
- Review your instalments
- Accept the terms and conditions
- Activate your plan
You will then receive a confirmation email with your payment schedule.
What does a payment plan mean?
By setting up a payment plan, you agree to pay your fees in instalments.
You must:
- Make sure there is enough money for each payment
- Keep your payment details up to date
If you miss payments:
- Your plan may be cancelled
- Debt recovery action may continue
Will debt recovery stop?
No.
Your debt will stay on your account until it is fully paid.
The University may still:
- Send reminders
- Continue debt recovery processes
- Apply sanctions in line with University regulations
Can I progress or graduate if I owe fees?
No.
If you have unpaid fees, you cannot:
- Progress to the next academic year
- Graduate
- Attend your graduation ceremony
- Receive your certificate
These restrictions stay in place until your balance is fully paid.

You can log in to Flywire at any time to:
- View upcoming payments
- Check your balance
- See past payments
- Make extra payments
- Update payment methods
- Change notification preferences
Notifications
- Flywire will send updates by email.
- You can also choose to receive SMS notifications in the portal.

I have received an email from Flywire. Is it genuine?
If you have been invited to set up a payment plan, the email may have been sent by Flywire on behalf of the University.
This will be sent from the following email address: credit-control@herts.ac.uk. Please note this is a no reply email address and the mailbox is not monitored.
Can I change my payment plan?
Contact the Student Finance Team. Changes are not guaranteed and are reviewed case by case.
Can someone pay on my behalf?
Yes. You can allow a parent or family member to make payments using Flywire.
I have a Student Loans Company loan. What should I do?
You do not need a payment plan. You can ignore these emails.
I am a part-time student and my full balance is not shown. Why?
Part-time fees are charged each term. You must pay each instalment by the required dates.
