ℹ️Students can use campus sockets for personal devices like laptops and phone chargers. You’re responsible for making sure your equipment is safe to use.
Stay safe
- Report any damaged plugs, sockets, switches, or cables to estates@herts.ac.uk.
- Buy: Travel adaptors, chargers and extension leads from reputable, traceable suppliers, with clear manufacturer details and recognised UK safety markings (such as UKCA or CE).
- Avoid: Cheap, unbranded equipment from online marketplaces (including Amazon or eBay) as many have been found to fail safety checks and can cause fires, electric shocks, or injuries.
- Use the correct adaptor for non‑UK plugs. Don’t force a plug into a socket.
If your building (e.g., labs or workshops) has its own rules, follow those instead.
