How do I get a reference for private accommodation?
If you are moving into private accommodation, you can request a landlord reference from the University.
How do I request an accommodation reference?
Step 1: Give permission
Email reslife@herts.ac.uk and confirm that you give permission for your accommodation reference to be released.
Step 2: Ask your landlord or referencing service to contact us
Your landlord or tenant referencing service must also email reslife@herts.ac.uk to request the reference.
Important
References can only be completed if your accommodation payments are up to date.
If you have an outstanding accommodation balance, you will be contacted and asked to clear the balance before a reference can be provided.
When will I receive my reference?
We aim to complete references as quickly as possible.
Please allow up to 5 working days for your reference to be completed.
To help avoid delays
Make sure your landlord or referencing service provides:
- Your room number.
- Your flat number.
- Your hall of residence.
- The correct contact email address: reslife@herts.ac.uk
Missing or incorrect information may delay your reference.
