Following a withdrawal from studies the University is required to stop Student Visa sponsorship. This will be reported to UKVI by the Student Immigration Team (Compliance). This is one of our duties as your Student visa sponsor, all withdrawals must be reported to UKVI within 10 working days.
If you are seeking a reinstatement to studies following your withdrawal, please carefully read through the information on this page as Student visa sponsorship can only be reinstated in certain situations.
If more than 60 days have passed since the date you were withdrawn from studies, your visa sponsorship cannot be reinstated. You must leave the UK and apply for a new visa to return to studies.
If you have already received a Notice of Cancellation from UKVI confirming your Student visa has been cancelled, your Student visa sponsorship cannot be reinstated. You must leave the UK and apply for a new visa to return to studies. Please read section 'UKVI Cancellation notice' for the next steps.
Student visa sponsorship may be reinstated if the following criteria are met:
- Your Student visa is still valid. You must inform us if you have received a cancellation notice from UKVI.
- Your school must confirm to SIT Compliance that they are willing to allow you to return to studies and that you can complete the remainder of your studies by your original visa end date.
- You must provide evidence that extenuating reasons led to your withdrawal.
Visa Sponsorship reinstatement following withdrawal for debt:
The above criteria must be met (points 1-3) and;
- Finance must confirm in writing to SIT Compliance your debt(and in certain situations the full balance of fees) has been paid.
- You provide a written explanation of why you could not pay your fees on time.
Visa Sponsorship reinstatement following withdrawal for non-attendance:
Criteria 1-3 must be met and;
6. You must provide a written explanation of why you did not attend as expected to SIT Compliance.
The final decision to cancel a visa is ultimately down to UKVI. Following a reinstatement there is still a risk UKVI will cancel your visa. If you recieve a cancellation notice from UKVI you must inform us as soon as possible. If UKVI have already begun the cancellation process on your visa, you will be withdrawn from your studies.
UKVI Cancellation notice
If you have received a cancellation notice from UKVI, your previous Student visa sponsorship cannot be reinstated. You must leave the UK by the date provided by UKVI in your cancellation notice.
You will not meet the requirements to apply for a Student visa application from within the UK. This means you will need to leave the UK and make a new visa application to return to the UK.
If you have been withdrawn for debt you will need to clear your debt and your school will need to approve your return to studies.
You will then need to request a new CAS from the International Office. They can be emailed at international@herts.ac.uk. This CAS can then be used to submit a new Student visa application.
