Right to Work Information

I have completed my studies and need to work. Where can I get a letter?

The University is not able to provide you with a right to work or course completion letter.

Current Students

If you are registered in the current academic year, you are permitted to work full time outside of your term dates, which are noted on your student status letter and UH website.

If you need a student status letter, please request it here:  Request your student letter

Completed Students

If you are a student who has now completed your studies, you are permitted to work full time after your CAS end date providing that you do not have any referrals or deferrals to complete.

Your employer will need to see your CAS, previously obtained Student Status letter and your BRP. Please be aware that, once your studies are complete, it will no longer be possible to obtain a Student Status Letter.

Please remember, it is ultimately the responsibility of your employer to conduct right to work checks and ensure that you have the right to work in the UK including whether you can work full time during vacation periods or after your studies have completed.

If you have finished your studies and have your final award more than 2 weeks before the end date on your CAS. Please speak to our Student Immigration team who will be able to report you as finished to the home office, and withdraw sponsorship of your student visa. You will need confirmation that this has been done before you are able to work over the hours stipulated as part of your visa conditions.

Further information can also be found on the government website and on the UKCISA website.
