Herts Enterprise - This service provides support to students and graduates thinking about setting up their own business.
What do I need to do?
- The Careers and Employment website provides various information resources to inform students on self-employment. See the 'Self-Employment' section on the toolbar.
- Browse events - Keep an eye on the ‘events’ section on Handshake for details of when the Careers and Employment service are holding workshops to do with self-employment. Workshops we regularly hold are as follows: generating ideas, setting up an online business, how to write a business plan and many more. Keep updated on all our events by visiting: herts.joinhandshake.co.uk and searching for Enterprise events.

N.B: International students are able to work up to twenty hours per week, depending on your visa conditions. You can undertake most types of work but you must NOT engage in business or self-employment; or be employed as a professional sports person, entertainer or doctor in training, and cannot fill a permanent full-time vacancy. UH international students are also not eligible to undertake a self-employed placement year or placement working from home.
If you are a student working at the University of Hertfordshire, you will be able to work a maximum of 15 hours per week regardless of whether you are a home or international student.
