What is Speak Up?
If you are worried about something you experienced or witnessed, you can report it to the University.
Use the Speak Up link to report an incident.
How can I report an incident?
You can report an incident in two ways using the Speak Up link:
- Anonymously
- With your contact details
If you are reporting on behalf of someone else, you should try to get their consent first.
- Reporting anonymously
Your report helps us understand what is happening across the University.
If you do not provide your contact details, we will not be able to contact you or take further action.

A specialist team will review your report.
What happens next depends on the type of incident and any investigation required.
We will:
- contact you
- explain what happens next
- keep you updated throughout the process
What happens after I report an incident?
Your report will be kept confidential.
We may need to share some information with specialist staff to investigate. If we cannot keep information confidential in rare cases, we will explain this to you.
Your data will be handled in line with the University Privacy Policy.
If you name a member of staff:
- we will contact you to explain your options
- we will not contact the staff member without your consent
- we may ask for your permission to involve Human Resources
You may be offered the option to move to a formal complaint process.
This will not happen automatically.

We aim to respond within 5 working days.
