What is Speak Up?
Are you worried about an incident that you were involved in or witnessed? Please take the time to report it to the University using the Speak Up link .
How can I report an incident to the University?
You can report an incident either anonymously or with your contact details via the Speak Up link.
⚠️ If you are reporting an incident for another person, it would be better if this can be done with their consent.
You can report an incident anonymously or using your contact details.
Reporting anonymously: reporting any incident helps us to better understand what is going on across the university; however, the University cannot take any further action if you choose not to provide contact details.
Reporting with your contact details: our specialist team members will review your report. Any resulting actions will depend on the nature of the incident and the resulting investigations. We will continue to communicate with you and keep you informed of developments throughout the process.
What happens after I have reported an incident?
Your report will remain confidential, although we may need to share some information with our specialist team members while investigating the incident. We will make it clear to you on the rare occasions that we cannot maintain confidentiality. Your data will be managed in accordance with the University Privacy Policy
If a member of staff is named in the report, we will contact you and explain what options are available to you. We will not contact the staff member you have named without your consent but depending on the route that you wish to pursue, it is likely that we will ask for your consent to share your case with a Human Resources specialist.
You may be given the option to move to a formal complaint process as an outcome of the Speak Up investigation. This does not occur automatically.
When will I hear back?
Our specialist teams work Monday to Friday, and we aim to reply to you within 5 working days.
Malicious or vexatious complaints will be addressed using existing student and staff disciplinary procedures.
