I've been scammed. What should I do?

If you've sent money to a scammer or shared personal information, take action as soon as possible to help protect your accounts and personal details.

What to do straight away

If you've been scammed:

  1. Contact your bank immediately if you've sent money or shared payment details.
  2. Change the passwords for any affected accounts.
  3. Turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA) wherever it's available.
  4. Monitor your bank accounts and online accounts for suspicious activity.
  5. Report the scam if appropriate.
