Your Student Finance number (SSN)

You must provide your Student Support Number (SSN) so we can access your Student Finance record and release your funding.

What is a Student Support Number (SSN)?

Your Student Support Number (SSN) is a unique number issued to you by the Student Loans Company (SLC). It is sometimes called your customer reference number and has the following format: SFDU12345678A.

Why we need it

We use your SSN to:

  • Access your Student Loans Company record
  • Check your funding details
  • Release your payments
  • Without it, your funding cannot be processed.

What you need to do

Make sure you have given us your SSN.

If you have not:

  • Check your Student Finance account
  • Find your customer reference number
  • Provide it to the Student Funding and Financial Support team
