Can't access Panopto lecture recordings
Lecture recordings are usually published in the Recorded Sessions section of your module's Unit area within four working days of the session.
Recordings are provided through Panopto and embedded in Canvas. Sometimes your browser's security settings can block Panopto authentication, which may result in a message saying you do not have permission to access the recording.
If you can't access a recording, try the following steps in order.
1. Check your browser settings
Follow Panopto's guide to enable third-party cookies in supported web browsers.
Then try opening the recording again.
2. Open the recording through Panopto in Canvas
For 2026/27 modules:
- Open your module in Canvas.
- Select Panopto from the module menu.
- Use Panopto to find the recording you need.
3. Access Panopto directly
If the Panopto link is not available in your module, or you still can't access the recording, go directly to:
Use the Panopto interface to find the recording.
4. Remove existing Panopto integrations in Canvas
If you are still seeing a security or permissions message:
- In Canvas, go to Account.
- Select User Settings.
- Scroll to Approved Integrations.
- Delete all Panopto integrations.
- Try accessing the recording again using step 2 or 3 above.
5. Try a different browser
If none of the steps above work, try using a different web browser.
Before accessing Panopto in the new browser, follow the guidance in step 1 to make sure third-party cookies are enabled.
