What UH Sustainability advocates have done before:
- Wildlife surveys
Advocates got to attend a hedgehog survey workshop to learn how to set up tunnel surveys and record their findings. This contributed to the university achieving their Hedgehog Friendly Campus Bronze award.
- Green impact audits
Green Impact is an initiative which awards teams of staff for making changes to improve the environmental performance of their office. Staff follow a toolkit and submit evidence to achieve a Bronze/Silver/Gold award level. UH Sustainability advocates are given the opportunity to receive IEMA-recognised training, delivered by SOS-UK, to conduct the Green Impact audits.
- Recycling audits
Last year the Sustainability Advocates audited the waste and recycling facilities and resources in halls. They recorded whether the correct bins were in place, whether there were communications about recycling and whether waste was being disposed of correctly etc.
