Examples of what Sustainability Advocates do:
- Energy audits
This March Sustainability Advocates conducted an energy audit on both College Lane and de Havilland campuses. The advocates recorded which office buidlings still had lights on after office hours to assist the University in making carbon savings.
- Wildlife surveys
This April Sustainability Advocates got to attend a hedgehog survey workshop. They learnt how to set up tunnel surveys and record their findings, supporting biodiversity on campus.
- Green impact audits
This May Sustainability Advocates got to receive IEMA-recognised training, delivered by SOS-UK, to conduct the Green Impact audits. Green Impact is an initiative which awards teams of staff for making changes to improve the environmental performance of their office. Staff follow a toolkit and submit evidence to achieve a Bronze/Silver/Gold award level.
