Home Office service standards for receiving your Student Visa when applying in the UK

Applications by Standard Service (costs £490)

  • For the Standard service it usually takes approximately 8 weeks after submitting biometrics to get a decision 
  • Your BRP card will be delivered within 10 working days of receiving a decision
  • The process could take longer, for example if you are invited to an interview
  • You should not book any travel abroad until you have received your new Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).

Applications by Priority Service (costs £990)

  • For the Priority service it usually takes approximately 5 working days after submitting biometrics to get a decision
  • Your BRP card will be delivered within 10 working days of receiving a decision
  • The process could take longer, for example if you are invited to an interview
  • You should not book any travel abroad until you have received your new Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).

Applications by Super Priority (costs £1,290)

  • For the Super Priority service it usually takes 1 working day after submitting biometrics to get a decision
  • Your BRP card will be delivered within 10 working days of receiving a decision
  • Your passport and documents should be returned to you on the day of the appointment.
  • You should not book any travel abroad until you have received your new Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).

There is nothing you or the University can do to make this process any quicker.
