Your University Login Account

Your University Login account provides access to a wide range of online systems and services.

Getting started

  • New students will recieve an email with your University username and instructions on how to login to our University systems.
  • You will normally need to enter your username in the format: username@herts.ac.uk 
  • You can use your personal University username and password for all University online services.  Keep it confidential and safe!
  • You will keep the same username throughout your studies with us.

⚠️ The University will never ask you for your password. Do not share this with anyone.

Logging in with multi-factor authentication (MFA) 

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) adds another layer of security to your online accounts by verifying your identity using a second factor and prevents anyone but you from logging in, even if they know your password. 
  • All students are required to use MFA as part of your user account setup process. To do so you will need to set up an authentication method (normally your mobile phone).
  • Just follow the on-screen prompts when logging into a University system.   
  • Find out more about why and how we use multi-factor authentication.

⚠️ If we detect any suspicious activity with your university account, we will reset your password to protect your account.  If you do not have Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enabled, your account will be disabled and you will need to contact our helpdesk to restore your account.

Remember, you can change your password anytime by going to pss.herts.ac.uk

Your University login account will expire

Your University login account will be closed six months after the leaving date listed in your Student Record.

⚠️ Once your account is closed, we are unable to recover any saved work and emails. Please back up anything important that you want to retain before you complete your course.
