How do I request a room move?
A limited number of alternative rooms may be available. Most vacancies are usually:
- Townhouses on College Lane
- Single En-Suite rooms on De Havilland
We cannot guarantee that your preferred room type will be available.
To request a room move, email accommodation@herts.ac.uk with the subject line Room Move and include:
- Your Student ID
- The room type you would like to move to
- Whether you require a 42-week contract (ending July 2027) or a 50-week contract (ending September 2027)
- Your preferred move date
We will contact you to confirm whether a suitable room is available.
Important information
- A room move incurs a £25 contract variation fee.
- All room move requests are subject to debt and disciplinary checks.
- Approval of a room move cannot be guaranteed.
How can I extend my contract?
If you need accommodation during the summer vacation period, you can apply for summer accommodation.
Summer accommodation will be available from June 2027. Full details will be published on the Summer accommodation page from May 2027.
If you wish to stay during the summer, you must apply before the published application deadline.
Your accommodation deposit will be returned after the end of your summer accommodation booking.
Can I leave my accommodation early?
You can request an early departure through the accommodation portal by selecting early departure.
Important information
You remain responsible for accommodation fees until the end of your contract unless your room can be re-let to another eligible student.
While every effort will be made to re-let your room, this cannot be guaranteed.
Your accommodation deposit will be returned after the end of your accommodation contract.
