Where do I start?
Your careers journey starts with My Career Portal – the University’s careers platform.

From My Career Portal, you can also access Handshake, our interactive careers community which provides live vacancies, access to careers and enterprise appointments, employer events, and more. where you can search for jobs, including internships, placements careers appointments to get your CV checked.
How do I access Handshake?
You do not need to register for Handshake.
The University has created a Handshake account for every current University of Hertfordshire student, linked to your University login.
Handshake allows you to:
- Search and apply for jobs, placements and internships
- Find part‑time and flexible work
- Book careers appointments, including CV and application checks
- Explore employer events and opportunities

CareerSet is available directly through My Career Portal.

- Improve your CV and cover letter
- Check applications against employer criteria

How do I access Shortlist.Me?
Shortlist.Me is also accessed via My Career Portal.

When you graduate, you become part of a global University of Hertfordshire alumni community – and your connection with the University doesn’t end.
The Careers and Employment Service continues to support you for up to 4 years after your course ends, offering:
