Where do I start?
The Careers and Employment Service helps you develop your skills, explore career options and improve your employment prospects throughout your time at university.
Our services are available to all current students and graduates for up to four years after completing their course. Support is available online, in person and by phone.
Your careers journey starts with My Career Portal, the University's careers platform.
Through My Career Portal, you can access:
- Jobs and placements
- CV and application support
- Interview practice
- Careers appointments
- Events and workshops
- Self-employment advice
- The Herts Excellence Award
My Career Portal is now the main location for University careers support and resources.
You can continue to use Handshake for job searching if you wish. From 6 June, Handshake Global manages your account and data directly. If you would like to close your account, please contact Handshake. Otherwise, no action is required.
How do I access My Career Portal?
All University of Hertfordshire students and graduates (within four years of graduation) have a My Career Portal account linked to their University login.

The Careers and Employment Service continues to support you for up to four years after your course ends.
