1. Generate your Student Status Letter
You can download an automated Student Status letter from the Student Letters Ask Herts page.
This letter confirms:
- Your name
- Your student status
- Your course details
- The expected start and end dates of your course at UH
Employers often ask for this as proof that you are enrolled at the University.
2. Use the Vacation Dates document
We don’t provide individual letters confirming how many hours you can work.
Instead, you should use the Vacation Dates document for the School your course belongs to.
The Vacation Dates document shows the official vacation periods for your course. During these times, you may be able to work more hours, in line with UKVI rules for your visa type.
3. How to present this to your employer
Provide both:
- Your Student Status letter
- The Vacation Dates document for your course (or the link to Ask Herts so employers can check this themselves).
- Make sure your employer is aware of when you started your course (Semester A or Semester B) and that they are looking at the corresponding dates on the document. They can use your Student Status Letter to confirm your course start date.
It is an employer’s responsibility to check your right to work. Together, the documents above confirm your enrolment and the periods when you can work full-time to employers so they can carry out their checks.
