Support for dyslexia

Find out how the Student Wellbeing Disability Team can support you with dyslexia, including study adjustments, specialist support and advice throughout your studies.

On this page:

Disability Advisers

Our Disability Advisers can discuss your support needs and help you access the support available during your studies.

If you have dyslexia, we recommend contacting the Student Wellbeing Disability Team as soon as you register at the University. An initial meeting with a Disability Adviser will help you understand:

  • What support may be available to you
  • Any reasonable adjustments you may need
  • Whether additional evidence is required

We offer appointments:

  • In person
  • Online
  • By telephone

You can self-refer using the Student Wellbeing self-referral form.

Study Needs Agreement (SNA)

Study Needs Agreement (SNA)

Your Disability Adviser can create a Study Needs Agreement (SNA) with you.

The SNA outlines the adjustments and support you may receive as a student with dyslexia or another disability.

Specialist  study skills support

Specialist study skills support can help you develop strategies for managing your studies and reaching your potential.

Support may include help with:

  • Planning and structuring essays and assignments
  • Revision and exam preparation
  • Understanding assignment questions
  • Using feedback effectively
  • Managing your study time

This support is usually funded through the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA). If you are not eligible for DSA, alternative funding options may be available.

Specialist study skills support will not:

  • Complete your work for you
  • Proofread your assignments
  • Provide academic content

Instead, it helps you develop practical skills and strategies to improve your independent learning and academic confidence.
