What’s the deadline to pay my fees?
The first liability date for returning students is Monday 10 October 2022. More information is on our Tuition Fees FAQ page.
Steps to registration
1) Check for an email
You will receive an email up to 40 days prior to the start date of your programme inviting you to complete Stage 1 registration. The email will tell you how to access registration through your Student Record.
No email? Check your junk/trash emails first. If you still haven't received an email, contact the Ask Herts team.
2) Complete online registration (Stage 1)
Login to your Student Record as soon as you receive the registration email from the University. Click on the link called 'Registration (Stage 1)' and follow the instructions to re-register. This should be the same process as self-register when you first started your programme.
You must re-register even if you are not studying at the university campus, e.g. you are on a placement year or studying by distance learning.
Once you have completed stage 1 registration, please allow the system 24 hours to update overnight. You can then log into your Student Record to check that your status has updated to ‘Registered’.
If you are studying elsewhere (e.g. on a work/Study Abroad placement or distance learning), your School will arrange for you to be fully registered – just make sure you have completed Stage 1 registration via your Student Record.
3) Pay your fees
Pay any tuition and accommodation fees. Make a payment to the University or check your tuition fee liability dates.
If you are a UK/EU student, remember that you’ll need to reapply for funding each year.

Important info
- The deadline for students to fully complete re-enrolment is Monday 10th October 2022. Failure to do so will mean you are withdrawn from studies.
- If you are a UK/EU student, your SLC maintenance loan payment will not be released until you complete Stage 1 online registration. The earliest date that loans can be released from the Student Loans Company is start of term (26 September).
- When you have returned to on-campus classes, please remember to swipe your student ID card at every teaching session. ID card readers are located inside all teaching rooms.
