What to upload for registration

A list of everything you'll need to upload to the Registration Document Upload Portal to become a registered student at the University

PLEASE NOTE:  When logging into the Document Portal you will need to use your UH LOGIN this is your username@herts.ac.uk 

Documents must only be a maximum size of 6MB’s and can only be PDF’s or JPEG’s

Identification

In order to register at the University of Hertfordshire you need to provide identification. Accepted forms of identification are:

Home students (UK national)

  • Passport photo page - A passport is our preferred form of identification for all students.
  • Birth certificate AND UK photo driving licence - If you are unable to provide a passport for any reason, we are also able to accept these forms of identification together. You must meet the criteria for a British citizen to register using your birth certificate.

We are unable to accept a driving licence on its own as a form of ID. You must provide a copy of either a passport or a birth certificate along with your driving licence.

EEA students (EEA National’s EU/Norway/ Liechtenstein /Iceland and Switzerland)

  • Passport photo page- A passport is our preferred form of identification for all students.

    Plus one of the following options:
  • Student route visa information (if you are resident in the EEA or Switzerland) your personal share code, home office letter and date of birth
  • EU Settlement Scheme information (if you are a resident in the UK) - home office letter, personal share code and date of birth

International students (overseas)

  • Passport photo page AND

Any of the following documents that you have available:

  • 90-day vignette (with UH arrival stamp) - if you have not collected your BRP
  • Visa page
  • Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) - both sides (if required) - If you were born outside of the UK (even if you now have British nationality) you must provide a passport and relevant visa (if needed to be in the UK) in order to be registered.
  • Biometric Residence Permit collection letter
  • UKVI consent form
  • Copy of complete Visa application form  
  • Home office letters 
  • Post office receipts for submitting your Visa application (in the event of not able to upload passport)

Additional registration documents for nationals of Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea or the United States of America

If you are a national from one of these countries, you must also upload a copy of one of the following documents to show your arrival date to the UK:

  • Evidence of UK arrival: (port entry stamp for (short term study students), e-gate tickets, flight details, booking itinerary or flight details) showing your arrival date to UK
  • Copy of a boarding pass for your flight arriving in the UK.

Without providing an accepted form of identification we will not be able to register you.

Student Loans Company payment information

Please upload a copy of the following if you are receiving a loan from the Student Loans Company:

  • Student Loans Company notification of entitlement letter

Other documents

You may be asked to upload other documents to support your registration, this includes:

If your legal name is different to that in your passport, please include:

  • Marriage certificate 
  • Name change deeds

For fee assessment purposes we may also require:

  • Proof of address documents (bank statement, utility bills)

DBS & counter fraud checks

If your joining instructions have indicated your course requires a DBS and Counter Fraud check, please refer to the DBS Identification Documents Checklist attached to your joining instructions. This will contain information for additional documents required for DBS.
