Registration document portal

- Documents must be PDF’s or JPEGs, a maximum size of 6MB’s
Identification requirements
In order to register at the University of Hertfordshire you need to provide identification. The documentation we require depends on your immigration status and is broken down below:
Home students (UK/Irish Nationals)
- Preferred: Passport photo page - A passport is our preferred form of identification for all students
- Alternative: Full birth certificate and UK photo Driving Licence (both required). You must meet the criteria for a British citizen to register using your birth certificate. We are unable to accept a driving licence on its own as a form of ID
Students with status under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS)

- Personal share code - You can generate this on the Government website. When doing so, please select 'To prove my immigration status for anything else', not right to work or rent. For further assistance, see the bottom of this page
- Home Office letter detailing outcome of your EUSS application. If you do not have this letter, please let us know the date your status was granted
Students with Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK
- Passport photo page
- Personal share code - You can generate this on the Government website. When doing so, please select 'To prove my immigration status for anything else', not right to work or rent. For further assistance, see the bottom of this page
Without providing an accepted form of identification we will not be able to register you.
Additional documents:
If your legal name differs from the name detailed on your registration identity documents, you must provide additional legal ID documents to support your registration. These can include:
- Marriage certificate / Civil Partnership certificate
- Name change deeds (if changed by deed poll)
- Passport (if not already included above)
Legal Name Throughout Studies: The legal name you register under will remain with you throughout your studies and will appear on your award. Changes can only be made if evidence of a divorce is provided later or if you meet criteria for a name change for other reasons such as a change of gender or by deed poll.
DBS & counter fraud checks
If your joining instructions have indicated your course requires a DBS and Counter Fraud check, please refer to the DBS Identification Documents Checklist attached to your joining instructions. This will contain information for additional documents required for DBS.
How to create your immigration 'share code'
From autumn of 2024, the UK government have replaced the Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) with an eVisa.
