What is MyCompliance?
MyCompliance (also known as MetaCompliance) is one of the platforms Herts uses for mandatory and optional training courses that sit outside your academic modules.
Training content includes topics such as freedom of speech, AI use, cyber security, health and safety, and sexual harassment awareness.
Some courses may be visible specific student cohorts only and are usually mandatory; other courses may be optional and available to all.
Getting started
You'll get an email sent to your University email address (remember to check your spam folder just in case)
- The sender address will be 'no-reply@metacompliance.com' - this is a legitimate email and not phishing but it's always good to be cautious!
Follow the link in the email and this will take you straight to the course.
- Missed the email? Go directly to: https://hertsstudents.metacompliance.com and sign in using your University username@herts.ac.uk and password.
- Can't access the training platform using the link? This usually means you have not been added to the platform because you have no training to complete.
Some course PDFs contain links to external websites. When you open one of these links, you may see a security warning asking whether you trust the website. Select Allow to continue.
Accessibilty features
All videos include closed captions (subtitles).
Select the CC icon in the bottom-right corner of the video to turn captions on or off.
- If you use a screen reader NVDA works well with this platform.
- If you use a different screen reader and encounter any issues please do get in touch.
You can also adjust the playback speed using the controls in the bottom-right corner of the video.
For queries or any other feedback, please contact the team via the Library and Computing Services Helpdesk.
Finding your courses
- You can navigate through the different areas of the MyCompliance platform using the dashboard menu on the left-hand side.
- Click on ‘My Compliance Library’ and then on the Training tile to see those courses that have been assigned to you. You can filter courses by Completed and Not Complete.
- If you see a course that is listed but not assigned to you, it usually means it's optional, but you are very welcome to complete it.
Course completion certificate
When you complete a course, MyCompliance will usually email your completion certificate automatically.
You can also find this in your MyCompliance account:
- Log into MetaCompliance (https://hertsstudents.metacompliance.com)
- Click on your name in the top right-hand corner and select 'View profile' and scroll down to 'My training'.
- Select the Completed tab and you should a certificate icon on courses completed. Click on the icon to download your course certificate.
Quizzes
You'll find some quiz question in most courses. These are to check your understanding at intervals through the training material .They have pass marks so you can't skip over them, but you can retake them as many times as needed.
FAQs
I'm having issues logging in.
- You'll need to use your normal University username and password to log in.
- If you are signed in to more than one Microsoft 365 account, try opening an incognito/private browser window before logging in.
- Not all Herts registered students will need to complete training on MyCompliance and won't therefore be added to the platform. If you have been told you need to complete training and still can't log in, please get in touch with the Helpdesk.
Do the quizzes have pass marks?
- You'll find short quizzes in most courses and whether they have a pass mark depends on the course. The quizzes help check your understanding as you progress through the training material and help reinforce key concepts.
- The pass mark will depend on the number of questions in each quiz; if there are only 2 questions it will probably be 100%! But you can retake each quiz as many times as needed.
- You might want to watch some of the course material again to check your understanding, but you can jump straight back into the quiz if you want to.
- We do not report on your scores and they do not count towards your programme of study.
I think I have completed the course, but it still says "Not Complete". Why is this?
- Please ensure that you watch all elements of the course including any final videos after end of course quizzes. You should then receive your completion email.
I am struggling to complete the course as I keep getting a timeout / website not responsive message. What should I do?
- Please make a note of the time and what part of the course you were on and where possible take screenshots of any messages you see. Please then email helpdesk@herts.ac.uk who can investigate the cause.
Do I have to complete the course in one sitting?
- No. You can leave the course and come back and complete it at another time.
- The course will remain as ‘Not Complete’ until you have completed all the sections and achieved the required pass mark in any tests.
What are Participation Points?
- As you complete your assigned training, you will notice "Participation Points" accumulating in your profile.
- These points are an automated, system-generated way to confirm you have completed a module, reviewed a video, or confirmed a policy.
- You do not need to collect or track these points. They simply act as a background confirmation that your training requirements are fully complete.
- We do not use leaderboards or rankings. Your individual progress is purely for your own confirmation.
Do I have to complete the course sections in order?
- No, but we strongly suggest you do it in the order provided for your first run-through, especially where quizzes are included.
- Courses are designed to run in a logical order to help users get the most out of them, but you are free to view any specific elements as many times as you wish.
I have watched all the videos but it is not showing as complete.
- If your course has not generated the completion certificate or you are still getting reminders, it's most likely you have not quite watched one of the sections to the very end.
- Play the video again and make sure it runs to the very end and stops before exiting the unit or course.
- Each section on the right hand side of the screen needs to say 100% completion.
Can I print or download PDF documents that form part of the course?
- Yes, you can. Go to the three dots in the right hand corner of the course screen and you will see the options to download and/or print
Where can I check the status of my courses?
- Go to https://hertsstudents.metacompliance.com and log in as normal.
- Make sure you are on your MyCompliance home page, and then click on the Training section.
Can I repeat the course? It would be good to get a refresher.
- Yes. You won’t need to complete any quizzes again.
- You can view all or any of the elements of the course as you wish and you won’t need to complete any quizzes again.
- Access the course by going to https://hertsstudents.metacompliance.com, log in, and select the Training section on your home page.
- Here you can see all the courses assigned to you and their status. Under Actions select 'view' and you can run through as much or as little of the training course as you need to.
What happens if I don’t complete a mandatory course?
- MyCompliance will automatically send you reminder emails for a specific number of weeks until you have completed the course.
- If the course is not completed, your School and/or the Dean of Students may get in touch to offer a reminder and support you to complete it.
Can I opt out of the reminder emails?
- No, you will receive a set number of reminder emails until you complete the course.
