Student Loans Company: Change of Circumstances (COC)

If you are funded by the Student Loans Company and your circumstances change, the University must inform Student Finance England on your behalf via your funding record Find out how to inform us of your change.

You will need to notify the Student Funding and Financial Support team if you:

  • If you want to Withdraw from your course, please follow the link to our Withdrawal page and once the application has been signed off, we will notify the Student Loans Company on your behalf.
  • If you want to suspend your studies, also known as ‘Going Dormant’ please follow the link to our Suspend from your studies page  Once the application has been signed off, we will notify the Student Loans Company
  • Changing your course please refer to the course transfer page  - If you are changing university you will need to contact the relevant team at your new institution
  • Transfering from on campus study to a placement/study abroad year
  • Change your Study Abroad/Work Placement plans
  • Resume your studies (after suspending your studies)
  • Retake a year of your studies
  • Change your mode of study
  • Defer modules (also applies to split year)

How to notify us:

If any of the above applies to you ( except dormancy/withdrawal as you will need to follow the above processes ), please email funding@herts.ac.uk to request that a COC is sent to the Student Loans Company this also means we can advise on funding implications, as changes in circumstances may impact your funding entitlement with the Student Loans Company.
