When do I need to tell the University about a change in circumstances?
If you receive funding from the Student Loans Company, you should contact the University if any of the following apply to you:
- You are withdrawing from your course.
- You are suspending your studies (going dormant).
- You are changing course.
- You are transferring from campus-based study to a placement year or study abroad year.
- You are changing your study abroad or work placement plans.
- You are returning to study after a period of suspension.
- You are repeating a year of study.
- You are changing your mode of study.
- You are deferring modules, including split-year arrangements.
Withdrawing from your course
If you wish to withdraw, follow the process on the Withdrawing from University page.
Once your withdrawal has been approved, the University will notify the Student Loans Company on your behalf.
Suspending your studies
If you wish to suspend your studies (go dormant), follow the guidance on the Suspend your studies page.
Once your request has been approved, the University will notify the Student Loans Company on your behalf.
Changing your course
If you are transferring to another course at the University, see the Transferring courses page.
If you are moving to another university, you will need to contact the relevant team at your new institution.
How do I notify the Student Funding and Financial Support team?
For changes other than suspension or withdrawal, email:

- Arrange for a Change of Circumstances (CoC) notification to be sent to the Student Loans Company where required.
- Explain how your change may affect your Student Finance funding.
- Help you understand any impact on your future funding entitlement.
