Documents everyone needs
- Your current passport
Provide your current, valid passport.
Also provide any previous passports you used to travel to or remain in the UK.
- Student visa application fee
Pay the correct application fee online when you complete your application.
Check Student visa processing times and application fees
- Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
You will need the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) issued by the University.
- Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS)
You must pay the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) as part of your online visa application.

- Qualifications or results listed on your CAS
Check the Evidence used to obtain offer section of your CAS.
You may need to provide the qualifications or results listed there, such as your transcript or Notification of Results (NOR). These are available from your School Administrator.
Do I need to provide proof of funds?
You may need to show that you have enough money to pay your tuition fees and support yourself while studying in the UK.
If you have been living in the UK with a valid visa for at least 12 months before the date of your Student visa application, you do not normally need to prove that you meet the financial requirement. Student visa: Money you need.
If you need to provide financial evidence, your money can come from:
- your personal bank account
- your parent's personal bank account
- an official financial sponsor.

If you are using money in your parent's personal bank account, you must also provide:
- your original birth certificate
- a letter of consent from your parent(s).

What other documents might I need?
Depending on your circumstances, you may also need:
- Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)
Provide your Biometric Residence Permit if applicable.
- ATAS certificate
You may need a new Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate.

- Documents if you are 16 or 17
If you are aged 16 or 17, you will need additional documents.
Current GOV.UK guidance says applicants under 18 need written consent from their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) covering their visa application, UK living and care arrangements, and travel to the UK. What documents do I need for my dependants?
If your dependants are applying with you, you may need to provide evidence of your relationship and living arrangements.
- If your spouse is applying
Provide your marriage certificate.
- Proof that you live together
Provide proof of address showing that you and your dependant live together.
- If your children are applying
Provide their birth certificates.
Before you submit your application
- Check your English language evidence
If you were accepted by the University using an IELTS or Pearson English language test, check that your qualification is still valid.
