Do I need a coursework extension?
A coursework extension allows you to submit an assessment after the published deadline without receiving a penalty.
A coursework extension may be suitable if you need up to 7 extra days to complete your assessment.

Should I submit exceptional circumstances?
You may be able to submit an exceptional circumstances request if personal, medical or family problems outside your control have affected your ability to complete or submit an assessment.
Exceptional circumstances can allow you to defer your assessment to the next available opportunity without penalty.
If you are experiencing difficulties, you should contact your Module Leader or Programme Leader as soon as possible for advice and support.
Exceptional circumstances may be appropriate if you cannot meet the deadline because of ongoing or significant circumstances affecting your studies.

Do I need to take a break from my studies?
A voluntary suspension allows you to take a temporary break from your studies.
This may be considered for reasons such as:
- Maternity or paternity leave
- Illness
- Family circumstances
- Financial difficulties
- Standing as a Hertfordshire Students' Union Sabbatical Officer
- Other reasons approved by the Dean of Students
