Where can I find free student facilities are available in the LRCs?
Here are some free facilities available in the LRCs:
- Warm study spaces on campus
- Microwaves to heat your food
- Water fountains to refill your water bottle
- PCs and Macs available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Free Wi-Fi
- Power sockets for charging devices
- You also get £5 of printing credit at the start of each term.
If you need help while you are in the LRC, security staff are available 24/7.
Where can I find free devices and software in the LRCs?
In the LRCs, you can make use of free devices and software:
- Borrow a Chromebook free of charge and use it anywhere on campus.
- If you need a device for a longer period, computer loans may be available. See the Computer Loans page for details.
- You can get a free Microsoft 365 account while you are studying at the University. This includes access to applications such Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams.
- Use LinkedIn Learning free of charge to develop academic, professional, and technical skills.
- Through Adobe Creative Campus, you can get free access to: Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Express, Adobe learning activities and events.
What free study resources can I use on and off campus?
You can access a wide range of online resources without extra cost:
- The University provides access to a large collection of eBooks and eJournals to support your studies.
- Interlibrary loans: If the item you need is not available in the library, you can request: a whole book, a copy of a journal article or a copy of a book chapter.
- No overdue fines; you will not be charged late fines for items that are returned correctly.
- Lean Library is a free browser extension that helps you find and access University journal articles more easily when studying off campus.
- Libby provides free access to eBooks and audiobooks on your phone, tablet, or computer.
- Remote desktop access lets you use University specialist software from home without buying your own licence.

- Support is available for studying, technology or accessing equipment.
