Free facilities in the LRCs
You can use a range of facilities in the LRCs at no extra cost:
- Warm study spaces
- Microwaves to heat your food
- Water fountains to refill your water bottle
- PCs and Macs available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- Free Wi-Fi
- Power sockets for charging your devices
- £5 printing credit at the start of each term
If you need help while you are in the LRC, security staff are available 24/7.
Free devices and software
You can access devices and software to support your studies:
- Borrow a Chromebook free of charge to use anywhere on campus.
- If you need a device for longer, computer loans may be available. Check the Computer Loans page for details.
- Get Microsoft 365 free while you are studying at the University, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Teams.
- Use LinkedIn Learning free of charge to develop academic, professional and technical skills.
- Get free access to Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Express, learning activities and events through Adobe Creative Campus.
Free study resources
You can access study and library resources on and off campus without extra cost:
- Search the University's collection of eBooks and eJournals.
- Use interlibrary loans to request a book, journal article or book chapter that is not available in the library.
- There are no overdue fines for items that are returned correctly.
- Use Lean Library, a free browser extension that helps you find and access University journal articles when studying off campus.
- Use Libby to access eBooks and audiobooks on your phone, tablet or computer.
- Use Remote Desktop to access specialist University software from home without buying your own licence.
