Mental health advisors can support postgraduate research students with their mental health in a number of different ways. There is support available for students with or without a mental health diagnosis.
These include:
- Facilitating joint meetings with supervisors to make reasonable adjustments if you have a diagnosis.
- Helping you to access additional support such as Disabled Students Allowance if you have a diagnosis. This will facilitate access to support like specialist software and specialist mental health mentor.
- Signposting to support.
- Helping you to understand your mental health and to build coping strategies.
- Supporting you to open a conversation about your mental health with your doctor, if you choose to.
These are all with the aim of helping you to manage your mental health alongside your academic journey.
