Student Wellbeing offers a specialist disability advice service to support all Herts students with disabilities.
“We are all different. There is no such thing as a standard or run of the mill human being – but we share the same spirit. What is important is that we have the ability to create. This creativity can take many forms – from physical achievements to theoretical physics. However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at.”
- Professor Stephen Hawking, 29 August 2012
About our service: what we offer and where to find us
Our Disability Advisors are here to discuss what works best for you, to help arrange and formalise the adjustments that will be most beneficial for your studies, and to ensure that a disability does not present any unnecessary barriers to learning or working with us.
We will recommend study-related adaptations, assist you in obtaining evidence of your disability, guide you through the Disabled Students Allowance application, and help coordinate any necessary adjustments for placements.
All of this will be captured in your Study Needs Agreement (SNA) – a formal document that informs academic staff and other teams how to meet your individual requirements throughout your course.
We are also committed to raising disability awareness across the Herts community.
Although we recommend that you get in touch as soon as possible when you register at Herts, you can access our service at any time. To request disability support, please complete this form: Academic Support for Your Disability
You can access the service online, in person or by phone so please get in touch by emailing studentwellbeing@herts.ac.uk, call us on 01707 284453, or or visit us in Hutton Hub.

Parking on campus
There is limited parking on our campuses for students. If you have a blue badge, you will be automatically entitled to park in one of our accessible parking bays once you have registered for an on-campus permit.
If you don’t have a blue badge, but are unable to use the park and ride and need to park on campus you might be entitled to apply for an extenuating circumstances (EC) parking permit. An EC permit does not guarantee a parking space, it is just an authority to park.
Please contact Student Wellbeing or see the Parking at Herts page for more information.
