Thank you for completing your online registration. Please identify which type of returning student you are from the options below and follow the steps.
- Returning home/EU/International students

This information will not apply to you if you are a work placement or Study Abroad student – see details further below.
Once you have completed online registration an overnight script will run to update your student record status to registered, (completing the sections in the registration portal).
You can check your registration status by logging into your Student Record. If your student status does not change to ‘Registered’ within a few days, there may be an issue which is preventing you from completing your registration. Please get in touch with the Ask Herts Team if this happens.
If you are in receipt of a student loan, we will confirm your attendance to the Student Loans Company (SLC) once you have been turned to registered. Only after becoming "registered" will it then release any loans to you.
IMPORTANT: The earliest date that loans can be released from the Student Loans Company is start of term (Monday 25 September). Once you have been turned to registered, it can take up to seven working days for the money to reach your account.
Now that you are returning to studies and when you are back on campus, please remember to swipe your student ID card at every teaching session to ensure your attendance is recorded. ID card readers are located inside all teaching rooms.
Your registration will be completed by us if you have followed the correct University approval processes allowing you to take a work placement or study abroad year.
Important: if you are on a Student Route visa you must inform email@example.com that you are going on placement or study abroad before you go.
Your registration will be completed by your School.
Your College will inform the University once you have returned to study.
If you are in receipt of a student loan, we will confirm your attendance to the Student Loans Company (SLC) once we have been notified to do so by your College.
IMPORTANT: The earliest date that loans can be released from the Student Loans Company is start of term (25 October). Once your attendance has been confirmed to SLC, it can take up to seven working days for the money to reach your account.
If you are progressing from a course at an Associate College to a course at the University of Hertfordshire, you are considered a new student and will need to follow the above procedure for ‘New Students’.
