What the deadline for fees?
The first liability date for returning students is Monday 7th October 2024 for Semester A returners, Monday 3rd February 2025 for Semester B returners. More information is on our Tuition Fees FAQ
Thank you for completing your online registration. Please identify which type of returning student you are from the options below and follow the steps.
- Returning home/EU/International students
- Returning work placement and Study Abroad students
- Returning distance learning students
- Returning Associate College students
Returning home/EU/international
Note: This information does not apply to work placement or Study Abroad students. Please see the relevant details below.
- Completing registration: After you finish online registration, it may take up to twenty-four hours for your Registered student status to update across University systems. Make sure you complete all sections in the registration portal.
- Registration issues: If your status does not change to ‘Registered’ within a few days, there may be an issue. Please contact the Ask Herts Team for help.
- Student loans: If you have a student loan, we will confirm your attendance to the Student Loans Company (SLC) once you have registered. The SLC will then release your loan.
IMPORTANT: The earliest date that loans can be released from the Student Loans Company is start of term (Monday 23rd September). After you are registered, it can take up to seven working days for the money to reach your account. - Visa holders: If you are on any type of visa and your status hasn't changed to 'Registered' after completing online registration, contact the Student Immigration Team (Compliance). They may need updated immigration documents from you.
- Attendance: When you return to campus, remember to swipe your student ID card at every teaching session to record your attendance. ID card readers are located inside all teaching rooms.
Work placement and Study Abroad students
Your registration will be completed by us if you have followed the correct University approval processes allowing you to take a work placement or study abroad year.
Important: if you are on a Student Route visa you must inform sitcompliance@herts.ac.uk that you are going on placement or study abroad before you go.
Returning distance learning students
Your registration will be completed by your School.
Returning associate college students
Your College will inform the University once you have returned to study.
If you are in receipt of a student loan, we will confirm your attendance to the Student Loans Company (SLC) once we have been notified to do so by your College.
IMPORTANT: The earliest date that loans can be released from the Student Loans Company is start of term (23 September). Once your attendance has been confirmed to SLC, it can take up to seven working days for the money to reach your account.
If you are progressing from a course at an Associate College to a course at the University of Hertfordshire, you are considered a new student and will need to follow the above procedure for ‘New Students’.
