Stage 2 Registration for Returning Students

Information about stage 2 registration for returning students (returning to the same programme of study only)

What the deadline for fees?

The first liability date for returning students is Monday 10 October 2022. More information is on our Tuition Fees FAQ page.

Thank you for completing Stage 1 Registration. You now need to complete Stage 2 Registration to be fully registered on your course. Please identify which type of returning student you are from the options below and follow the steps.

Returning home/EU/International

This information will not apply to you if you are a work placement or Study Abroad student – see details further below.

Once you have completed stage 1 registration an overnight script will run to update your student record status to registered.

You can check your registration status by logging into your Student Record. If your student status does not change to ‘Registered’ within a few days, there may be an issue which is preventing you from completing your registration. Please get in touch with the Ask Herts Team if this happens.

If you are in receipt of a student loan, we will confirm your attendance to the Student Loans Company (SLC) once you have been turned to registered - this will release any loans to you.

IMPORTANT: The earliest date that loans can be released from the Student Loans Company is start of term (26 September). Once you have been turned to registered, it can take up to seven working days for the money to reach your account.

If you are on ANY type of visa: if you have completed Stage 1 registration and your student status has not changed to Registered, please contact the Student Immigration Team (Compliance) as they may need updated immigration documents from you.

Now that you are returning to studies and when you are back on campus, please remember to swipe your student ID card at every teaching session. ID card readers are located inside all teaching rooms.

Work placement and Study Abroad students

Your registration will be completed by us if you have followed the correct University approval processes allowing you to take a work placement or study abroad year.

Important: if you are a Tier 4 student you must inform sitcompliance@herts.ac.uk that you are going on placement or study abroad before you go.

Returning distance learning students

Your registration will be completed by your School.

Returning Associate College students

Your College will inform the University once you have returned to study.

If you are in receipt of a student loan, we will confirm your attendance to the Student Loans Company (SLC) once we have been notified to do so by your College.

IMPORTANT: The earliest date that loans can be released from the Student Loans Company is start of term (26 September). Once your attendance has been confirmed to SLC, it can take up to seven working days for the money to reach your account.

If you are progressing from a course at an Associate College to a course at the University of Hertfordshire, you are a new student and will need to follow the above procedure for ‘New Students’.
