1. Setup your University login account
As part of the registration process, you will set up your University login account. You'll first be asked to set up a username and password to access University systems.
We also use multi-factor authentication (also known as 2FA or MFA) as an extra layer of security, so you will also need to set this up.
2. Get connected and set up your device
You can access the internet and your online services on your own device, or by logging into the computers in the Learning Resource Centre, study spaces, and computer labs.
See Wi-Fi and wired connections to the University network for details of how to to set up your personal device.
3. Access StudyNet and your Canvas modules
StudyNet is your 24/7 online learning environment.
You will need to log in regularly to:
- Access resources related to your modules
- Complete some assessments
- Access our online library
- View your module and exam timetables
- Join the Library SkillUP Canvas module and add it to your dashboard
4. Have a question? Ask Herts.
Ask Herts is our specialist information and support service, focused on answering all the questions you have throughout your time with the University. The service is available online and – for more complex queries – in person, at our Ask Herts Hubs.
5. Bookmark the systems maintenance pages
We regularly undertake planned IT maintenance and upgrade works to keep our systems safe and secure. Be sure to bookmark the University systems maintenance and service status pages to keep up to date and plan ahead.
