We are here to support you to get the best out of your time at the University of Hertfordshire. It is important that you are engaging with your studies by attending on campus and online teaching sessions as well as accessing the material and support available on Canvas. What do I need to do?
- Register your attendance each time you attend classes on campus by swiping your ID card on an electronic Check-in reader by the room at the start of every on-campus teaching session
- Log into your Canvas module regularly to access your learning and teaching resources.
International students must do both of the above every week to meet the engagement requirements.
⚠️ If you are an international student on a Student Visa you must swipe your card on campus at least once a week even if you have no timetabled sessions. This can be done on any of the readers in common areas but does not include entry/exit to the LRCs. More information can be found at international student attendance.
Monitoring your engagement
We are here to support you every step of the way to make sure you are getting the help you need when you need it. If you have not met your engagement requirements above of swiping your card and accessing Canvas modules for two weeks we will:
- Send you a reminder email to log onto your modules and swipe in at your on-campus teaching sessions and to provide contact details for pastoral support, ID card queries, and the Helpdesk for login issues. You will also receive a phone call from our support team to offer further support.
- After four weeks a further reminder email will be sent. If you are still unable to engage at this point you must get in touch with your School or other support to avoid further action being taken.
- If our records continue to indicate that you are not engaging with your studies this may affect your ability to continue on your course. If you are a student on a visa this could result in your sponsorship being withdrawn.
To ensure you receive emails from the University, please visit the Ask Herts page on managing your emails to and from the University.
Please see how to get help below for information on what to do if you are struggling to engage with your studies.
